AMC Best Picture Showcase – The Reader

by Adam Bullied on Feb 21, 09

So, we’ve taken a brief leave from the theatre, since two movies are showing that we’ve already seen – Slumdog Millionaire and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.

The Reader was also very good. I found it a bit slow to start, but that could have just been my second bag of movie popcorn kicking in. I know it didn’t score all that high on Rotten Tomatoes, but you can see how it was nominated for a Best Picture.

However, with only Frost/Nixon left to go, I have to say – I think this is the flick that could have been dropped out of the race in favor of The Dark Knight. But, I’m a fanboy, so my case is bias.

Kate Winslet does a great job. Ralph Fiennes isn’t in it that much, but the scenes he is in, he does a great job bringing the character forward.

Of course, it goes without saying – at this point, I’m a total shill for AMC. They have done a great job keeping their staff informed. Usually with events like this one, you have 1 or 2 people asking, “um, I need your ticket” or “you have to pay for that popcorn, sir.”

There’s lots of tweets going on about the day, which you can check out on Twitter Search.
