Calling for More Discussions

There was a ton more press that came through the booth today during our session at CES.

To be honest, I’m a little sad it’s our last day. I’ve had a ton of fun talking to a bunch of super-cool and really interesting folks. I’ve really enjoyed seeing the looks on their faces when they really get what we’re doing. The eyes light up and you can see them thinking, “cool!”

In some cases, it takes a little bit more to get them to arrive at the notion. But that’s alright — we all have a pretty airtight positioning statement we’ve all been using. It seems to be working well:

“Digital music identification & recommendation.”

4 words. 5 if you count the “and” in there. Pretty neat.

The title of this post relates a little bit to wanting more to get some more interesting folks to come by. There are a lot of people either departing this evening or tomorrow morning and all throughout the day.

But, we will all be in the booth through the end of the day tomorrow, talking to anyone that wants to find out new ways they can change the way they listen to music, and change the way their customers discover music. If you’re still around Las Vegas, come on by!

Quick CES Update

So, CES has been pretty awesome thus far.

It’s funny, from a product management standpoint the show has been super positive. The thing I’m noticing is that we are pretty far advanced, technology wise, within the digital music market. I’m finding that what we’re doing is now being understood by people pretty well, but they aren’t far enough advanced yet to articulate different, more advanced problems so we can shape our products to help solve them.

Everyone is really just starting to use and look for the products that we have to offer to the market right now.

I’m sure that in 1-2 years, given how fast digital music is growing up as a market, we’re going to be flooded with quality market data for ways in which we can help our customers and prospects succeed in different and new ways.

That’s exciting, no doubt. But to be on the wave right at the time when the problem is playing directly into what your products can do is super cool as well. It’s like the market is starting all play directly to your strengths.

Maybe it’s just the excitement of the show talking, but being able to see the product models and plans we’ve built come to fruition with real-life clients, and the positioning we’ve been working hard to refine and craft over the last few months truly working is a fantastic feeling.

TV is Awesome

Even though Rachel and I have been loving the whole TV show on DVD thing only, I think it’s time we look into getting cable back.

We are sitting in our Las Vegas hotel room watching friends re-runs, and it’s awesome. Along with all the flashing lights outside of our hotel room.

OK, sorry - I had to write that. I will get back to doing some more product management blogging soon, I promise.

Just a quick post to let anyone know that’s going, we’ll be chilling at CES in the Sands — we’re over next to the Slingbox booth. Stop by and say hi if you’re around, and we’ll show you some really cool stuff…
