Yes, Mr. Segal was able to go get a burger without fear that he would unwittingly miss his plane...but when you think about all the hoops, barriers, and expenses that must be incurred to make that possible..."always being connected" is not a possibility for the average person. Arguably as well, for most people this sort of "real" data would NOT be good. the "five more minutes...five more minutes..." phenomenon would kick in and all those who scattered because they could actually see that the plane was nowhere near landing would be missing their planes left and right. Better plan - what if an airline had a bunch of those thingies that restaurants have for telling you when your table is ready? Suprise all those people who are disgruntled because of such a huge delay - hand out a sheet of paper with restaurants/malls/etc that are within the approved radius and say "sorry for the delay; stay in these places with this buzzer - when it goes off you have an hour to make it back here for your flight. Have fun!" Selective 'always connectedness'...remember, there are downsides too, yah know? Other logistical questions: 1) do you have to go through customs again? eeeeewww 2) multiple pieces of carry-on...this plan would SUCK if you were coming home with the fam from disney world. happy trails... that’s a very liberal viewpoint – but one that i suppose anyone working as hard as you do in your “sector” would feel.
